Relax, Paranoia Sucks

I've had a strange relationship with caffiene my whole life. I remember when me and Chris used to go to the 7-11/Arco by Punahou and buy Jolt after school and play basketball until 6:30. Then there was the strange coffee addiction that came with AP Chemistry (damn you science, for cutting me down from being a know it all, that C in Advanced Physics at ASU still haunts me when I zone out in office meetings), and now I've had a soda every month or two for about 5 years, and no coffee, red bulls or anything of the luck.

Now due to this strange game of sponsorship dollars I'm always at events with free drinks, and honestly not only do they all taste terrible, but I always forget they're energy drinks and just drink them like water and wonder why I can't sleep until six in the morning. The only one I like is Rehab, which is good because we're trying to work out sponsorship with them, but one of those and my eyelids are glued to my forehead for the day.

But I digress. Went down to the art walk tonight in Phoenix, pretty dead compared to usual, some decent bands playing at the houses, but I only saw one person I know and we left pretty quick. My new proximity to the club means I'm out every night for about an hour at least, went to Lyte for a bit tonight, then scoped out the ghost town that was the club area, guess fourth of July isn't party central for Scottsdale.

But thats cool, I'm still cleaning the house and downloading horror/ethnic food related stock photos for my various projects, so I have something to get done in the wee hours. We've been grinding away on writing the Scottsdale mixtape (our tribute to Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, slash the promo project before our album, a "drug and sex filled orgy of throwback hedonistic electro rap" (not my words)) and I don't have any more lyrics in my head, and I've seen to many American flags today to write anything for the actual album, which is now 95% done, I have to write my part to one track called Back to the Future, and one other joint and it's done. We're thinking about halfing the Scottsdale mixtape with a "PHX Ain't Easy" Phoenix tribute tape, but it's far less fun than the rest of what we're writing.

Still thinking about what we're gonna do for the single, definetly debating leading with the political track, the beat is very reminiscent of Kanye's "Flashing Lights", and it's inspiring, but if we start off extra liberal we might cut ourselves short. If we go with "Gravity" we might not cross over far enough, I need to get this album done to see just what we've created. My favorite is a track called The Remix, it also has the most crossover beat, my verse is below, and its one of those songs like "All That I Ask" with 3 hooks.

"I’m not concerned bout you and I,
Sex in the city superfly
We been living through months of rain
Praying this world can maybe change
Pop a bottle live a lie,
Supermodels smile bright,
This is more than you and I I I I
Hit me on my cell for some action baby,
Paparazzi flashing while we get faded
Oh the vanity and the magazines
Will someone please tell me what it me-e-e-eans
All my hopes they fade away,
Reading the headlines of the day
I want to escape up in your kiss
Am I awake or did I dream all this"

Had two conversations today about how pimping is being effected by our changing economy. The first was a shorty saying she was offered 10k as a down payment to start whoring in Vegas, the second was a pimp explaining how they now have better, more selective stables due to the recession and can offer signing bonuses, incentives, and start making intelligent business moves they couldn't do when sex-for-money wasn't a viable career option for the middle class. Apparently now it is... Meanwhile I have strip club GM's telling me they're doing terrible, and honestly I don't remember when the most common conversational topic changed from global warming to skin, but the times they are a changing.

And my stream of consciousness blog entry comes to an end. Got two sets tomorrow night, one afterhours, gonna be a long Saturday.
