After this is all said and done, I'm going to write a book about the criminal underbelly of the entertainment industry that no one will believe. The things we see and hear I've just started to become desensitized too, it's a lot to grasp. I have a lot of friends who think they would love to work in music/nightlife etc. and really have no clue of the depth of generally decrepit people they will encounter. I let them hold on to their fantasies, it keeps them going, and I'm happy I got a good base of people who hold us down.
That being said, epic night last night, started and ended at Lyte, officially my favorite place in Scottsdale, period. We had a strip club show at about 3am for afterhours (ah yes, the shady strip club tour has begun), and solidified our continuing reputation as probably the most diverse musical group Arizona has ever seen. From charity event to strip club to cover show to rock show to electro night and back again. The show went well, we spent about four hours prior in downtown Phoenix in sweltering heat flyering and checking out club nights. My man Greg, who I was intrdouced to through one of my business partners, Jimmy, is running a successful Club PHX in the heart of the city, right next to Bar Smith, where Benjamin Cutswell (best dj name I've heard lately) runs the most diverse club night I've seen out here, we plan to do a show down there in September. We luckily had the street team girls with us to help with the flyers but the heat is insufferable at night out here. Plus 5 of us, with my oversized musical partner, were crammed into a two door convertible mercedes, and lets just say I was happy when I ended up back at Lyte at 5am playing Wii bowling and eating food prepared by an off duty chef. It was some combination of tortillas, sausages, barbeque sauce and egg roll filling vegetables that was damn near heavenly.
I love it when I hop into someone's ride, such as when I caught a ride to Lyte from the show, and they're bumping our cd at deafeningly loud volumes, and the passengers know the words. Makes me feel good about myself.
Today our Furio show got pushed back a week so we practiced and I went to the gym and now I'm plotting out the week at the office. A night in for the first time in awhile, we'll see if it lasts.
