Another day another dollar. Went out to the artwalk last night to try and get some semblance of culture in my life, brought the family with me, it’s much different to be accosted by anti-scientologists and jesus-freaks with them then with the boys, it was pretty manic, but it’s a cool scene and I’m so happy its blossoming. 2-Mex and Pickster we’re out in front of a house doing the hip hop thing, drumlines/djs/live art and all sorts of amazingness, plus the usual freaks, families and indie kids.
I didn’t make it to Party Foul as would be the usual agenda, caught some sleep instead. We’ve been dealing with some heinous differences with the Mondrian Hotel, where we do Thursdays. Our rep there is great, as are most of the staff, but the managers (not sure what their positions are, but the two guys who handle events) just don’t seem to care or want to work, and they just lie and blame things on everyone else, and right now they owe the Infinite staff and I thousands of dollars I’ve already paid out for flights/djs/print etc for the past five weeks. The kicker was when the comped rooms for last nights event for the LA dj’s didn’t get comped and I had to toss them on the business card, I was so livid people had to seriously calm me down from going down there and just wilding out… It was scary for me, I keep control through all sorts of retarded behavior out here, but I seriously snapped when my connect from the radio, who I consider a friend and who I NEED to keep a good relationship with calls me and it looks like I’m fucking up. Not only is it a financial L, but this could effect the great relationship I feel we have with the program director for the radio, and I'm someone who takes care of my friends… I take this seriously and they messed up with the one person I said please take care of anything they need because I need this to go right… Anyway, a GM reached out to Infinite and they plan to work it out but if I had my way neither of the event people we’ve been dealing with would ever work again in this town, or anywhere else for that matter. They’re playing with people’s lives here, thousands of dollars to deejays, subpromoters etc is serious money, not to mention to me, not to mention the SM connects, SM is worth more than these peoples lives right now… And to think Infinite started this as a favor.
Today we do hours and hours of show practice, then I’m promoing for Tucson next week with LMFAO and Shwayze, if it sells out we get an ample bonus for performing, and we need that asap, money looks real rough until the Thursdays thing clears up.
On the plus side, we’re developing a serious collaboration with Bobby Fresh that everyone on the team is excited about. Spring Break this week...
