Because I have a large gap in memory for many of my experiences between the ages of oh... 1 and 21, I switched to my more recent blogging format so this could exist for me to read back over and remember when I'm 50 so at least have my 20s around (which are pretty crackin, albeit stressful). It may not be as relevant, but it's cathartic, and who am I to determine relevancy anyway?
Today I chose to sleep through a call from Cyrus and wake up to the call from Jimmie, wherein I called Cyrus and drank the remaining orange juice in the casa. Having written so many proposals this week I refused to deal with pdfs today, with the exception of updating the Eldridge press kit. Spent the morning drinking Flieschmans (sp?) and cranberry (I blame Jimmie) and banging out All Star Weekend work, hopefully everything is solid by Monday and it will be fully go time.
After that we all made calls to ensure the next round of client meetings went down before Saturday, then ate at Fashion Square where I ran into Justin for the first time since he quit Fridays at Lyte. We're still unsure as to whether or not part of the team is going to Sundance, but we're trying to plan as though we are, so some work went down for that.
After that went to High Point and fell in love with several pairs of shoes, I was stopping by The Glass Slipper because Danielle said she had a bunch of upcoming events when I saw her Sunday at Loco, but it wasn't open (Tuesday nights get rough in Scottsdale, you never know who makes it to work the next day, or maybe there's actual reasons for the closed doors) and after salivating on shoes I went back to the crib and then slept until Carnegie came through. We went over music stuff and the Mondrian/Lyte/DJ/promo strangeness I'm concocting and then I had to go to Lyte to talk about All Star and the Dirtnasty show which is now locked pending Red Rock Riot. So the 22nd we'll have our first show in Tucson ever, with Dirt and Andre, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
I remember the strange car trip 7 months back with Nico from Xclusive and Rashad down to Tucson to try and get a show at Pearl that pretty much involved strip clubs and general awkwardness and we never did get a show...
We're doing Flagstaff the next day on the 23rd or we'd be with Dirt and Andre at Lyte (gonna be hilarious). Our first Flagstaff show as well, at Trinity with Royal Epic hosting and a dance crew called The Badjacks. Gonna be cool to be back in the swing of things and in new markets, the new show is kinda bananas. We have this 20 minute show video from the Pittsburg Slim show that Royal Epic filmed and it was an awesome show but literally I don't know how the video was filmed that badly (it was a frat party and the stage was packed with girls is probably it) or if the sound quality could get any worse, but its pretty apparent that we're getting the party CRACKIN so I'm looking forward to refining this art of video in Tucson and Flagstaff with them. We came out at the frat show to Carnegie knocking off a fifth of vodka with Epidemic cutting up Queen's We Will Rock You (he loops the "we will" into like "we will, we will" a million times and lets it go and theres that huge sounding drum break and its awesome) into rapping over the Crookers remix of Day and Nite and you can see people's utter confusion as to how things got this cracking this quickly and during Centerfold girls bumrush the stage and the video turns into utter chaos.
God I miss doing shows. And its been like two weeks haha.
I was gonna go to the studio tonight and work with Lifted, but he had a last minute mix session so I got groceries and came home to blog/design/dj etc. In the grocery line this arab couple was eying my cart suspiciously (booze and vegetables) and I was eyeing theirs equally perplexed (candy and poultry) and everyone left wondering about each others lifestyles.
Talked to management late in the evening (I have come to believe they don't sleep), they had a meeting regarding our reality tv show today that went well. The whole pitch of the show is focusing on the DIY business end of what we do, which people are definetly responding well too. More proposal writing coming up and hopefully this whole thing will have some traction soon because we'd like to be filming by All Star weekend if at all possible.
And that's Wednesday.
