If only we'd done a show with MGMT last night instead of Shwayze, then things would be right with the world. But as usual, you rarely get what you want in life, especially in Scottsdale.
Thursday night Sept 18th in Scottsdale, and Silver Medallion was live and in effect down at the Venue of Scottsdale, doing a show with Shwayze and Tyga put on by promoter Red Rock Riot. Red Rock is good peoples, they show love to us on a lot of local shows and put together good concerts.
The show was pretty good, most of the people just stared at us with their mouths wide open the whole time (we get that a lot) in a mixed state of shock and awe, but they came alive for our Paper Planes remix. The show was running too late, some of the early openers had too long of sets, and so they cut our set short which we we're extremely heated about, but Carnegie held it down and made it so we could do Scottsdale, but they turned off his mic at some point in there, whether because we went on too long or the content not sure, so I ended up holding down the majority of the song. We got a TON of love after the show, no one believed we were from AZ, they all thought we we from out of town. At this point we've seen 944, AZ Republic, State Press and all sorts of press but we're still new to these kids at the shows, which is great. We stood outside the rest of the show talking to everyone as they left, making sure they came to the afterparty (gotta get this money) and making sure they know who we are. We don't want to be the kind of musical act that retreats to the trailer, we want every fan to get a picture and a cd and meet u, and it worked out well, we ended up signing autographs and taking pictures for a good half hour after Shwayze ended their set.
Afterwards we hosted an Afterparty at E4, Thursday nights there are 18+ now, and it's a pretty good party, and the only one of its kind in old town. We brought the crowd through from Shwayze and DJ Breez kept it going most of the night while we shouted obnoxiously on the mic and got lost trying to find people in E4's various rooms. E4 is tight in that every room is based on one of the elements, but theres lots of doors and mirrors and a few drinks in and you're trying to find someone and they text message you to come to "Air" and you end up caught in a scene from Fear and Loathing in Last Vegas...
The official afterparty for the Shwayze show was supposed to be at PCL, but none of the artists had any idea about it and I don't know where they ended up at, but one of our people saw their tour bus in front of the Chaparall Safeway at about 1:15 so it couldn't have been too crackin.
Friday's are typically pretty lame in Scottsdale and Tempe, Suede has a good party every once in a while in Scottsdale, and Zuma and Cue Club will always be hot in Tempe, but we'll most likely head down to Phoenix tonight. Our DJ for Silver Medallion, DJ Epidemic, is part of a superstar dj crew who does Party Foul at Homme Lounge, which is pretty much the most cracking party around, we haven't been able to make it out much but are always dreaming of banging electro and indie girls abound that the spot boasts.
Tomorrow we'll be out at Martini Ranch to perform with Hollywood Undead, looking forward to posting some new event pics soon!
