Been tested to my limits the last few days on a number of counts, physically and mentally. Don’t even really want to talk about it, it just gets trying out here.
Hosted Blackcard Lounge tonight with Cedric Ceballos (???) djing, we didn’t even really host though, it was pretty dead, we just took pictures, went over to Eli’s and kicked it with cougars, mark another venue we’ve been at down on the resume blazzy blah.
Very tired of going out in old town, it used to be a big thing when we went out because we were dressed crazy and in the club wilding out and everyone noticed. Now we don’t really dress as crazy and we’re in these spots all the time, and we don’t really party hard any more so it’s lost its appeal. It’s excellent for networking though so we’re trying to decide what we want our plan of action to be.
Every hour of the day is important now so definitely trying to decide how to spend our time wisely promoting the group. We’re stepping into more club nights, not really what we want to do but its reliable (as far as music money goes) income, and trying to decide if we want to do a ton of shows again the way we did two months ago. My vote is not to, and to focus more on getting involved in big events that are the right events, and focus less on making money and more on name recognition.
I’m easing away from a lot of design clients, but that’s less about me stopping doing design because music is paying and more of the fact that I’m taking on new, more comprehensive clients doing more intricate things. I wonder a lot about if I’ll ever just do music or if life is always going to be a balance. I’d accept less money to just do the music, but I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to make it without the connections I make from my work lol…
Very happy with our recording session friday, we did a track called Opposite Sex that should end up as our single if all goes well. Also special shout out to youtube, where we got all the settings for the T-Pain effect on Autotune 4. Our engineer, despite his amazing skills, has no idea who t-pain even is, and the look on his face is pretty priceless when we tell him we want the effect on the whole song, yes, everything. Having that plugin alone greatly expands the power of the songs we have on the album, gives in a lot of depth and a much more current feel.
