Caught a glimpse of the Democratic Convention today, saw Bill Clinton's speech, and a bit of Biden. Missed the man himself but I'm sure I'll catch it online tomorrow. Stayed in tonight despite the temptations Wednesday usually provides (my favorite night of the week to go out) to make sure I finished off decks and flyers.
Cranked out two new flyers for Socialyte, which is getting gradually better. This week we add email blasts, and as my email list is now 9500 plus (been building it for years, to be unleashed finally at the right time, and had some key help this last week to add a few more thousand) I hope this will be the tipping point to take the event from mediocre to cracking. Our main competion was dead this week as well, Tuesday just doesn't have it, so there's a lot of open territory to fight for now that school is back.
Anyway, promotions tire me to my core. I've been in the studio every day this week, and we got two more days of it, so there is something to live for. Visited our boy Taurus at his spot up North today and listened to his beats. He just got an article in XPOZ, and he's got bangers, but more hip hop than what we're trying to put together. In the meantime, Conrizzle steady be sending beats we're starting to like. SUPER plus side, the producer of our Minority Report track finally managed to get the files (we thought it was lost) so that cut, one of the fan favorites, is definetly going to make the album.
Went to the radio station this morning to visit Joey Boy, who always shows amazing love and seems to really have his thing together. We're trying to expand our bands publicity into a growing media empire, get some writing in publications and maybe some radio/tv together to grow and ever-powerful promotional network for Silver Medallion. Karlie Hustle was on air, drinking a 40 ounce green tea, Carnegie left with a shopping bag of Hot Tamales (???) and everything in the universe seemed to be in its place.
After that followed a meeting with a marketing firm working on Hennessy's Flaunt campaign, my company and our sister company Infinite are helping to coordinate event logistics at some of their new promotions around the valley and in three other markets. Watched a video they put together where they did in-stores in Chicago with DJ's, hand rolled cigars, and engravable gold chains... Pretty ridiculous, but solid marketing with solid stats.
The spirit of politics is in the air, I've had more angry arguments with Republicans these last few days than the last two months, I've started to add the Wrath of Epic Strength into my arguments for added flair, if they won't listen anyway mine as well really impress the epic nature of our gradually declining world affairs upon them in a suitably Biblical nature...
Studio again tomorrow, then meeting with a house music producer to get our hands into some techno, might not go out tomorrow either, the studio session Friday is too important to risk my voice. Plus we're hosting the doomed Black Card Lounge on Saturday for our boy Nico's birthday, and getting that anywhere near good is going to take the majority of our energy.
Another day in Scottsdale. Counting down to New York in two weeks!
