Today was kind of a maze. Stopped at Kid V's house and picked up beats we already had (Carn wtf?), and met with Iroc about potentially doing the Centerfold video. His new videos look real crispy, pretty impressive, we were pleasantly surprised. I'm still kinda holding on to the idea we'll have a windfall during All Star and be able to holler at the homie Todd Angkasuwan to put something together, but who knows. Iroc had this female assistant who started hitting us with real questions (not used to that round these parts) on that "How do you guys want to be represented? What inspires you?" tip, and that ended up with me discussing my obsession with Lennon and having a super-bad headache. I'm just happy it didn't go to far, if we'd all ended up discussing Yakub/Big Headed Scientists/Egypt etc. then I'd be in far worse shape, and the video would be too far off the beaten path. For an organization that wanted to do a video on us they sure didn't know ANYTHING about our style, or what we've done. It stuns people to find out we've been around for one year, done 45 shows in 6 months, from Yucca to the W, dropped a video, been in radio rotation, and seen press in every major local mag, especially when they think we're like an 80's rap group... All it takes is a brief visit to the myspace kids...
Chilly the Hustler called me up after that in the car, hadn't heard from him, he'd been jetsetting around the world apparently. Nice life these djs have... He wants to drop a street version of the album to build hype and we're all about it. I was a little too abrupt in the conversation because it was raining and in Arizona when its raining drivers act a damn fool and I wanted to keep it all together.
Finished up the writing for our All Star Weekend sponsorship deck, hoping to have that fully developed and ready to go by Friday to start pushing.
Met with Royal Epic at the house, we're putting together a mini tour in support of the as-of-yet unnamed mixtape (Silver Medallion in Vampire Vixens from the Black Planet is still in high running), and we settled on five dates at the end of February/early March, hitting Flagstaff, Scottsdale, Tucson, Phoenix, Tempe and the Navajo Reservation. They're also trying to set up a show with us and JUICE at a tattoo parlor in Gilbert, which would be different. After dissapearing and being generally regarded as "least likely to be heard from, ever" out of the three AZ rappers already signed, he made some press when Amare Stoudamire decided to back him and give him a stamp. Good luck to JUICE, but wtf is Amare thinking? One of the most prolific faces of the NBA and he gives a stamp to a BWS artist with a cd called "Death Certificate"...
Ran into Hot Rod Saturday at Lyte, who assured me that he was gonna take care of Silver Medallion, which I'll gladly take, he's really doing his thing in Europe and Dubai right now, and those euros looking a lot better than these dollars when it comes down to this music bread.
Texted a bit with Mike from RRR today, he's coming back from the bay and told us to pack our bags, I take that as a good sign.
We cut our record to ten songs, we're gonna record one new one and put it out fairly soon, no profanity, no hard electro. Strange times.
This whole thing started as me and Carnegie trying to make some music that sounded like Spank Rock and or Chromeo and weighed in at 126bpm+. So much for that.
