Ran around Scottsdale yesterday, stopped by Glass Slipper, had a red velvet at Sprinkles, parlayed here and there. We practiced our show at Lyte for a while in the evening, trying to get our new songs down . Then we we're djing and I did about an hour, realized I have no concept of djing hip hop anymore after spending all this time on my very much not hip hop dj cd. Carnegie hopped on and my homie and I went to check out Steve Aoki at Myst.
The turnout wasn't amazing, but that's what you get for putting an electro dj at Myst on the same night as Party Foul. Party Foul has Felix Cartal next week, which is pretty much amazing, we have our Flagstaff show though... William Reed opened for Steve, which I'm sure was a not extremely thought out move to attract hipsters, and his set was not the best I've seen from WFR (I've seen him really really go in and dj something amazing, this seemed like his Scottsdale version of the hipster set: We Are Your Friends into Ting Tings with voiceover etc.), but Steve killed it dead. My man and I were at the lower bar watching, ran into some girls we knew, went up through the vip to check out the groupie masses jumping up and down with Steve in the booth, we said what up to Tony Telo, the bigger faux show guy, random electro djs, the guys from Eventvibe, the kid from the Scottsdale video etc. We went to Suede (yakkin) and then I went back to Lyte pretty quick. I linked up with Bill and we went to Crown Room and talked about his script (he has a one man play he's taking on the road and he plans to use our song Heartbeat in it).
Photo shoots today, back to Lyte tonight.
