This article in New Times about our DJ blew my mind. Who else but Joel would get the tagline "balls of lead meet wheels of steel..."
Hooray for Dollywood
Balls of lead meet wheels of steel
By Clay McNear
Joel Davis – a.k.a. DJ Epidemic – has some mighty clackers. Whether you consider Dolly Parton camp personified or a bumpkin genius, it takes a lead-covered set for a quasi-underground jock to banner his MySpace page with a funked-up remix of Dolly’s “Joleen.” But the DJ’s “Joleen Epidemic Edit” is cool, real, and soulful.
Random memory: Tucson show, we got back to the hotel at 4:30, the van left at 6:30, we were debating staying up late and Epidemic pulls out of his bag of indie goodness the JUSTICE "Across the Universe" DVD.
Now I know JUSTICE are popular blazzy blah, but I had no idea just how much so until I saw this dvd... These guys played Madison Square Garden and they're on (I believe) Vice Records... In the DVD they're picking out 8 million dollar condos in LA and engaging in typical hedonism and acting really French. I was fading in and out of sleep and didn't even remember watching it until I ran into watching it today while I roamed the blogosphere.
