Ran around all day today like a semi-madman.
Woke up and donated things to Goodwill and cleaned the last out of my old place (office supplies and liquor bottles, coincidentally enough). After that ran around with various errands until we went down to WM Studios to record the latest (and last) addition to our album: "Camera". A pleasant tune set to a strip club beat by Death to the Throne about ladies sending messages to the smart-phones of Silver Medallion. My verse references David La Chapelle, Dubai, Saturday Night fever, the word "maven" and all the other things that make our music great. We played the engineer Kanye's "Robocop" as the sample track for the autotune (more distortion Joe! insert sound of whip cracking here), and Carnegie worked on a two minute outro (Strippers Get Money Extended Mix, for those who follow our mp3 blog presence) while I talked with Wade about various industryness and our plans for the imminent future.
Wade reiterated what we already knew and didn't really want to talk about: that all these shows and articles and all the "buzz" in the world doesn't mean anything if we can't settle down and sell some records. Now that the record is done (as of when we get Camera back tomorrow) this all gets to be real pressing (no pun intended industry folk), and it's about time we actually had something to sell. More on this at a later date, but I'll be damned if we're not about to sell a few thousand units asap.
Plus side, after listening to Thriller while we were in LA, we've cut the album down to 10 tracks, all hits, 7 of which are potential singles (not a good thing, we can't even decide the four to play the radio stations), and eliminated all cursing/drug references/demonic messages when played backwards etc. Mmmmmmmm. Ghetto pop life, here Silver Medallion comes.
After that we went to the new crib, kicked it with my new roommate briefly while we discussed The Watchmen and then headed down to Sugar Daddies. The new crib is tight, I can't get a bed until I get paid next week (if i get paid next week, fingers crossed) which kinda sucks (and the couch curves so no sleep there for your boy who is too tall for his own good), and someone parks an obnoxious Bentley in the space right outside our front door which questions my fiscal prowess as a man every time I see it, but I shouldn't have moved into this complex if I didn't want to feel like a poor, liberal, better than thou intellectual type every day. And it's gonna feel great to have a bed when I do get one. Most importantly my roommate is gone as much as I am (left for Vegas today) and can live through my social life (ie Carnegie and I writing songs at 3am while various girls get drunk downstairs) without heinous complaining.
At Sugar Daddies we ate at their happy hour (best in Scottsdale in my opinion, and two dollar coronas!). I paid less than ten for two coronas, a double burger with fries and a dozen wings (in change, which I'm now glad I've been saving for the last year lol) and I don't plan to eat or drink again for a day after that, I've been living on peanut butter, salads and chicken for too long. We waited for a bit for Omar from XPOZ, who was writing an article about us for an upcoming issue. In this time Carnegie filled me in on his rap history in Arizona (lengthy). The interview went well, Omar was a nice dude and actually knew about us and that we were popping and why. Nice change from the usual, can't wait for the photo shoot coming up, got my fit picked out (black suit, purple scarves, tom ford shades). Interviews are always fairly boring (same questions) but this one wasn't too bad, we both wanted to talk, and he had good questions.
After that kicked it at Lyte briefly (Lodge was CRACKIN from 10pm on) while Carn and Amen djed and Jason and I talked about girls, ready to buckle up and get designing tomorrow.
