Spent a lot of time today on Grand Avenue in Phoenix. Grand is unique in that in a city of straight lines it runs diagonal. We went down there for a photo shoot for The New Times, we're a feature in their Guide To Scottsdale (yeah, I know). Our photographer was really chill, and took some great shots. My boy gave me a platinum all white Member's Only jacket the other day so I was rocking that. He grabbed it at a yard sale for $4 and a old lady told him it had never been worn because "its too warm int h summer and you can't wear white past fall" which is some of the best logic I;ve heard for having an unused white Member's Only jacket at your yard sale. On our way leaving the photo studio we passed perhaps the shadiest motel I'd ever seen, and since we got kind of turned about with the Clarendon and others for the last video scene we needed we decided to brave the Two for 50 motel. Hauling a bunch of equipment and a staff into a cash only motel in bumblefuck Phoenix was an experience, and we made a mess and a scene but got absolutely ridiculous final shots. At one point (bear in mind this is based on Fear and Loathing) we have our girl star cowering in the corner with her paintings of Barbara Streisand wearing a mans t-shirt and crying while I launch myself into the air wearing an american flag as a cape and end up crashing off the bed into a side wall. I think Carnegie is staring at white noise on the tv laughing while this happens...
The likes of this video have not been seen recently in the Arizona music scene, we can go ahead and say that for sure. We're really considering a second music video immediately because this one is so heinous and ridiculous on a number of levels (coconut innard's digested by actors to complete video: 7) that we need a serious video to show our group's depth. We got a great concept for Opposite Sex (The Dinosaur costume returns!) so that might be the one to make it.
We were live at E4 last night with DJ Breeze, chopped it with Slippe who gets major props for leaving the country to tour as the dj for Hot Rod. The show went well, a little awkward we were on Go-Go Dancer platforms which made it hard to move and have as much swagger, but we rocked 3 songs and got a lot of love from the 18+ crowd. DK bounced because they we're on him about dress code, and my night digressed into a mess of groupies and body shots (not necessarily as exciting as it might sound).
It's getting stranger and stranger to go from meetings in the day to this strange life we have at night, I'm losing a lot of sense of anything grounded whatsoever. Anxious to get out of town and have the cold get my mind back on track.
Things are progressing, some pics from the video are below.
